Meet Our Founder
Founder & CEO · Refugee Youth Advocate
Areej arrived in Malaysia as a refugee at the age of twelve. The challenges she grew up with became the question that drives her: what can be done to make things better for refugee youth? That question became SEHER.
A refugee youth advocate and programme designer, Areej has turned lived experience into leadership — and into action. She founded SEHER to build the belonging, support, and opportunity she wishes she'd had growing up.
Today, Areej leads SEHER alongside a small but growing team of passionate young people. This is only the dawn, and there is room for more to rise.

Marketing & Communications Lead
Angel joined SEHER with a passion for ensuring refugee youth are seen, heard, and never overlooked, believing every young person has a story worth sharing. With a love for photography, videography, and writing, she captures everyday moments and turns them into stories that bring people together, and she supports SEHER's outreach through social media, creative content, and communications.
Project Lead Support
Amtul is a student passionate about youth empowerment, education, and human rights, with experience in teaching assistance, legal internships, and advocacy programmes. She hopes to pursue International Relations and contribute to social development through advocacy and community-driven initiatives. As Project Lead Support, she helps shape SEHER's growth and its future initiatives for refugee youth.
